Thanks for saying it wasn't meant as sarcasm, sometimes it's hard to tell in written form!

My honest response until about an hour ago (I'll explain in a mo) is that it'd would sell for £1,500. Not a hugely optimistic ask I figured. However it's just got back from it's MOT sans MOT certificate.

Looks like it's going to need fuel lines either replaced or taken off and cleaned oh and a small matter of extensive welding along the offside sills Boo hoo. I've been told ballpark of £300 for welding before the plastic sill covers come off and more is found!)

Alternatively with the rest of it's MOT I can chop it in for a new A6 and get £2k for it! Very tempting at this moment in time!

If i were (ever) to sell my 80CL, I would value it at £500 or so.

But it is a family heirloom, so (like Micky) I won't be selling it.

and one of the monthly payments will be as much as it would cost to get the CQ back on the road!!

definately worth it then

sarcasm INTENDED ( only joking)...

We popped into Ayr Audi today on the way home from dropping the UrS4 off ( in a field somewhere....) so I asked the sales chappy what do you do with any "scrappage cars" coming in?
scrap he says!!!! DOH!!! so i asked IF I was to pass your holding pen and saw an old Audi that had a NLA parts issue, could I buy it back from the dealers? basically you have donated 1000 quid along with the government thier 1000 quid to take you old car off the road..... now supposing this traded in car had parts I need for my... can I buy them from you? NO its going to scrap, we have to submit a certificate to the DVLA is been traded in and not going back on the road... SO I could follow the scrapppy wagon back to the crusher and ask if I could buy bits from him before it becomes a cube....

THIS IS THE GOOD BIT!!!! QUOTE DEALER SALES EXEC..... "IF YOUR SAD ENOUGH TO DO THAT THEN I SUPPOSE SO"

holly lumping F*** i felt like dragging him from behind his desk and plant his face in the £83000 NEW RS6's bonnet

Think its safe to say forget ANY Audi support for older cars then.
He asked what cars do I have, I said the WR quattro, an UrS4 ( shh!!), an 80 V6 cabrio and the RS4 in the household, he sat up when he heard the RS4 bit.... do you bring it here for servicing?

my reply............................ big breaths " DO WE ****" then walked out

ps... sorry for the **** word
just the mood I am in

For my sins Im a salesman at Toyota. Ive done a few of these scrappage deals so far, and Yes the cars do have to get scrapped

Which for some of them is a real shame, for example Im taking in a '99 T Mercedes A-Class, but the most interesting one is a 1977 Porsche 924!

We have been told (unofficially) that as long as they can drive the cars on the transporter that within reason we can take off any bits if we want.

So watch eBay next month for 924 parts!

If I do get a 'Classic' Audi in , I will of course let you guys know!

My local Peugeot dealer has a knackered an old M reg Mondeo on the very front with "This heap is worth £2000" - quite clever really cos it stuck out like a saw thumb and there's no way I would have noticed any thing about a Pug dealer without it! Mind you, I still drove past as obviously all cars inside pants but hey, clever idea!

I think it will spell the an untimely end though for some interesting and rare cars. The owners who are less enthsiasts than our selves may see the £2k as a good get out and some proper cars will suffer the ultimate sacrifice only to have their place on our roads and in our lives with a new crap-box that is of little interest to anyone. I bet it will see some real Pov-Spec cars being sold new as people will be buying the cheapest cars they can to get any actual benefit from the deal!

WHY driveit onto the transporter? doesnt it have towing winch fitted to DRAG it aboard??

see you cant have an engine from a " donor" car IF it has to use its own steam to drive the final few feett on and off a transporter

SO in hindsight you could strip it to a rolling shell and so long as it has a round thing at each corner to keep the body off the floor THATS a car ready for scrap.... NOT a working MOT'ed and taxed car.

I may invest in a tent and see what DOES turn in for scrap at Ayr Audi

Surely then cant we befriend the local Audi Dealers and say look if anything of interest comes in give us a call we will take the parts we need before it goes to the srapper and there's a drink in it for you?
If the poor things are getting squashed anyway and they have sent the form of to the dvla who really gives a shit. Im going to give it a go and see what the f**cking stuck up bastards at Southend Audi say. Probably along the same lines a quattrokids experience.
