Any slight hole in the scuttle area will let in water, that grommet sounds well dodgy. Daughter had a nightmare with a Passat a few years ago and it was the plastic cover at the back of the engine area, water dripped though , around the fuse box into the interior........ it was weeks before the dealer got it right ( pre owned but under warranty -- saved me looking at it , althoiugh I did and hadn't spotted it).
I have heard of a number of people for whom lying the inside of the boot/hose/torch has worked !!

this is the grommet for the cable release for the bonnet.

Cannot get my head around the fact that this wee hole has let in so much water, IF it is then how did it get to the drivers side without getting a trace of water between the dash and the tranny tunnel?

the dark bit is the side of the fuse box.

Pass !!
I've learnt that water can get in through the most unlikely places and never under estimate the volume!
It does seem as if you have more than one source of ingress....

Im gonna seal this up when I do the tail light cluster.

at a loss to where else its coming in, dooor cards are dry and the carpet down the side of the seat is also bone dry,its as if the water has come up from under the car but it couldnt have because it was parked up over night.
