Default water ingress

Archie has pissed himself again!!

Thought it was sorted but in heavy rain fall I am getting water into the boot resess on the right side and a rather concernable amount of water under the drivers seat in the rear and front footwells and a bit on the passenger side footwell.

suspect its the sunroof drain but cant be sure, there is no water on the inside of any windows.

Suggestions please...

NO the windows wasnt left open

SHORT of taking the front seats and carpet section out and sitting under a hose, any ideas please?

no idea

how do i check that
if the door is properly closed then wouldnt the door seal keep out water? it doesnt get wet when i wash the sills and spray water under the door to rinse..... not that I have checked mind you. Asuumed it was dry and sorted out when the sunroof drain was cleared out.

if the membrane had failed....would it allow about half an inch of water in? if the door membrane was leaking.... how the hell does it get into the boot?

Would the water in the boot be coming from one of the rear light clusters?

the rear light clusters should have proper audi mastic around ( chat to amanda ) and as you have had archie painted tenner says its not been replaced with the pukka stuff, if the door membranes are missing water actually gets in viaa the weatherstrip and piddles through the inner door , take the door card off to check rich

nice one fellas... Coxy there was a slight trace of water coming from the driver side light cluster, there was about 5mm of water in the resess.... but isnt this quiet a lot considering the gap between the cluster and the body?

Amanda's suggestion that Helen shuts me in the boot with a torch wasnt such a bad idea after all I had better show H were the boot latch is first

What kind of sealant can I use fopr the lights? would a bath silicone sealant do?

membranes will tackle that tomorrow.

Thanks guys great heads up

please do, thanks
So if its on a roll how is it appplied, run it around the body edge then attach the light assembly and secure squeazing the seal into place?

this is great news since this has been bugging the hell out of me!!!!!

much appreciated folks

more worried now about the membranes, what if its split, can i still get them or is it the dreaded NLA situation?

Its a bit like blu tack and you lay it around the seating area for the light, making sure its continuous so no gaps then fit the light cluster and carefully bolt it down to seal it.
Dont go mad or youll crack the light or break the bolts.
