OK I Stand corrected on the MOT and I will rephrase. It is a car without an MOT that has been off the road for three years...... I don't think the mechanic was doing you any favours by giving you the heads up on the underbody corrosion as the car now has that on its MOT history for all to see which could possibly put a potential buyer off. If it was so minor surely it only warranted a verbal. I get the impression that like so many car forum 'how much is my car worth' questions it isn't really a question at all, you already have a value in your head and are either wanting clarification or someone to make you an offer. You quite obviously value your coupe at way above what I think it's worth so I'm sorry if my valuation offended you but if you did ask and please note that to date I'm the only one that's put a figure to it. |

Two or three years ago £750 with an MOT, £250 as it is, albeit a five pot but it's just a front wheel drive coupe, not an s2. Nice looking car but would need to be put back to factory on a few fronts to keep most on here happy also.
Now, with the 'new interest' folks paying too much, with the low mileage, maybe £750 as it is, maybe £1.5k if completely gone over and MOT'd, but you probably wouldn't get any more than that from anyone on here. Low mileage is a fickle mistress, 15 years garaged is fine for bodywork but not good for the bits that move, doesn't stop rust (including inside the block) and doesn't stop all the rubbers perishing, although knowing this age group well I would not expect hardly any corrosion on the body, it's probably surface rust on the subframes etc. Take it back to that MOT guy and sell it to him. ![]() Last edited by missfire; 31-03-17 at 01:01 AM. |
