Did you put some oil in side the strut when you fitted the shocks inserts ??, as it needs it to take up the gap/slack that is in there.

u 100% sure?

second opinion anyone?

Having said that, I did wonder why the dampers had oily residue on out side of them when i took them out to inspect them.

However, I seem to have cures the 'creaking' noise when turning the wheel, I simply removed the nut off the top of the strut, pushed the wishbone down with a long piece of wood, so the top of the damper was free of the top mount, & then I made sure the little seating washer/Colet was pushed as far as it would go in to the bottom of the top mount bearing. I then guided te strut back up in to the top mount, put the top nut back on & lowered the car. And then I tightened it all up.

Seems to have stopped the metal on metal creaking, so that's good But now tho, on the other side I still have the sound of the coil spring playing a tune every time I turn the wheels..

How do I stop that? its only on the one side.

fair enough..

so what type of oil? I have some Mobil 1 super semi syn 5W30 left in the container if that will do the job? or should i save that for the engine and just use some cheapo oil?

& how much oil are we talking here? up to the top?

I'm still not convinced it will stop my springs twanging away like a guitar as I turn the wheel tho..

some cheapo oil ? That will do.

up to the top ? No.

How much oil are we talking here? About 2 caps (cap from the oil container) fulls just pour it in the empty strut and put the shock back in then wipe of what spills out, do nut back up and refit to car.
