Default Audi 80 B2 1.8 DS tuning

Hello,

I have a Audi 80 B2 with 1.8 petrol engine. The engine code is DS (66 kW - 90 HP). The car is FWD.
I want to change this engine for a much stronger. My dream is a Audi 2.0 engine with ACE code, or a Golf GTi 1.8 engine with KR code. Did someone already this engine change? Or same 4 cylinder engine changing Audi to Audi/VW.
Thanks in advanced!

Regards,
Peter

Well, what are u gonna do with that car? If it's daily car, better would be 2.0 8v. In any case - try to get whole car or, at least, chance to remove all other stuff by yourself, that would make it much easier, because part hunting sucks, especially if u don't know really what do u want To get there fuel injected engine, there is a lot stuff to change.
P.S. RHD B2's have fusebox on left side but B3 on right side, right?

I know it wont be easy to change the engine, this is reason why I asking. The car now is a daily car, and I want to use also daily in the future.
"To get there fuel injected engine" I don't want a fuel injected engine I want those engines - what are typed in the first comment - with Weber carburetors. Something like this:

U want two things, that are almost incompatible - daily car and carbs, that are piece of crap for daily usage Decide what u want.
P.S. These carbs would give u not only engine, that would be unpleasant for city driving, but also bad fuel mileage, especially if tuned like engine in that video

"daily car and carbs, that are piece of crap for daily usage" Why? Ithink a carb is simple like rock, and foolproof. K-Jet and friends are very expensive if something goes wrong.

Weeeeeel, yes. But the ones like u can find on your DS [it was carb and not the weak one KE-jet, right?], not the ones like in that video.

Yes. The DS builded with a Pierburg 2E, not with double Weber

Yes, audi had very good reasons to do it. First, it wouldn't be possible to fit these on 8v engines without crossflow heads. Second, they don't have proper air filter and, I presume, it costs more than standart filter. Third - there is no choke, so in winter there would be no idle when cold. Forth - such a short intake tract is for high rev power and not for low rev torque Fifth - engine equipped with such carbs use a lot of fuel. Take a look on that video again, what's happening when that "someone" applies throttle for first time - I presume if that someone would apply full throttle at idle speed, that engine would stall

P.S. I personally think "carb fans" are just old minded people. Modern aftermarket programmable ECUs can provide compromise between power and daily usage[fuel economy and costs], carbs cannot provide both.

If I ever worried about bad fuel mileage, I did not bought a car with petrol engine.
Okay msh! Let view your opinion! You said the 2.0 8v is a good choose. Which 2.0? ABK?

Ok, are u willing to use for daily driving car, that consumes, let's say, 20-30l/100km but doesn't give u, let's say, 400-500+ nm of instant torque?
Which engine? Depending on situation. 3A/AAD, ABK too. Also 6A/ACE [yeah, it's 16v ]
