Default golf balls

Ever wondered why golf balls have dimples and not totally smooth like a table tennis ball?

its more aerodynamically stable and if you had a smooth golf ball and a normal golf ball, drive both balls at the same velocity...the dimpled one travels further as well......?

SO why arent cars surfaces like a golf ball then?

wouldnt it also be more fuel efficient?

If you've seen the state of some of the ex-rental and ex motability cars we have in, then they resemble a golf ball from all the dinks and dents! Maybe they were actually on to something all along and it really wasn't down to piss poor driving skills.

Alot more to it than just dimples.... you have to bear in mind velocity and object shape....

A ball has no flat/square edges and air will take the shortest path which is easier on a smooth round object. A car has flat faces and areas of drag, this is part of the reason manufacturers state the Drag Coefficient of a car.
