Default UR driver headlight turns off with main beam!!

hey guys and girls,
headlights are working fine....until i turn main beam on, it causes both driver side lights (headlight and main beam) to turn off, is also a little difficult to pull the stalk back to hold main beam on, anyone got any ideas?? its an '88 WR by the way

sticking relay? these are in front of the passenger side headlight, (mines yellow coloured) I recently had a similar problem with mine, turns out to be a brittle cable that was a bad connection.

swap the relays about and do you still get the same symptoms?

You need a new stalk! This happened to me - something has broken up inside. Best get on eBay and get yourself another one!

thanks for the replies, will have a fiddle with the relays and if no luck will buy a stalk, does it have to be a UR stalk or do other models use the same one, if so which models?
Cheers

Forget ebay they are or at least the mb's one is available from audi for approx £20, for that money IMHO it isn't worth buying 2nd hand
