I see the answer to this question as follows.

Customer loyalty to the brand.

If the suits at Audi AG dont give piss in a pot about us, Audi buyers, promoters, drivers and parts buyers then its a sure fire way to cut your own throat.
It makes no sense from a viewpoint of business to alienate the very people who you depend on to promote your products by driving them and showing them to others.

Why did i drive a GT Coupe for 13 years? Because i liked the product, its precisely why ive bought Quasi, because i like the product and to me at least, the year it was made means little.
I dont expect the lack of a brake pipe flexi or a diff seal to put a perfectly good vehicle off the road for what one of those costs.

Carry on Audi suits and beancounters, keep on taking a dump on the people who you rely on and see where it ends.
Not many can afford an R8 at 50 grand plus and at this rate theyll be selling even fewer.

thats a well put point, but if we're honest we are not Audis key customers.
Have a look at how many new audis there are on the road. Have a look at what type of people they are and have a chat to the drivers.
How many do you think know anything about old audis, or know what a quattro is, or care?
there several co-directors of my wifes company who drive audis. - an A8, an A5, a S5 and 1 R8.
none of them made any comment on my quattro when the wife borrowed it one day, probably because they didn't know what it was exactly and being the "petrolheads" that they are, they didn't want to appear stupid infront of a woman.
Apart from the R8 (which is the CEs, who also has 2 911s) the cars are all company cars. They dont have any brand loyalty, dont care what its worth after 3 years and they aren't intersted in parts availability for old audis. These are typical Audi owners and Audis marketing department target them fairly succesfully.
Not a bad idea makiung PG an honuary member of ClassicAudi, but what would we get out of it? The QOC stood to gain publicity and from thjat leverage on the parts situatrion IMO

Dont shoot me down if this has already been done. Has anybody ever got a petition together of every classic Audi owner in the UK, get a bloody great convoy to Ingastade with all the press and tv to boot and bloody embaress them to death by knocking on the door of HQ. Im sure the motoring press would have a bloody field day. Audi are in the shit at the moment, their cars are not flying of the shelves, do they need more adverse press! Just a though!

not trying to be on a downer but does anyone at Milton Keynes actually have any say with what the main office does?
iMO the only hope is if a new "top-man" at Audi actually has a love and interest in Audis heritage and he decides "sod the cost- lets do it!"

Milton Keynes have little influence and TBH they have pushed on the collective behalf of 'us' but got little achieved, some notable things like those new wings were done but not very well ( got a pair here )
rather than the polite protestations maybe we should go armed with catapults, paintbombs and stinkbombs AND chain Amanda to the head honcho....
