I repeat again rusty or no splash guards are not an mot failure as they are cosmetic The main purpose of them is to stop stones etc getting in to the brakes

Well that's what i thought. as its MOT certificate before that from the previous owner showed an exhaust gas analyzer test.

& I nearly asked if they were simply confusing cars after 1991 that require stricter regulations due to cats, with older cars not needing a test at all. But wait a minute.. who here is stupid enough to insist there car have a re test after it 'Passed' its MOT? lol

So i kept my mouth shut..

Besides, one of my best mates works there, (the one who owns the 1.8 turbo corrado) He's a good mechanic IMO , and although he doesn't do the MOT test him self, I trust him 100% with my car and I know he wouldn't let me drive it if for any reason it wasn't safe. And further more, being a friend means I can be pretty sure the test station wont try to rip me off with anything that doesn't need doing..

And that's something that I'm sure all of us worry about when going in for an MOT.

plus, I always give him the keys on the day of the test, so he has to drive it to work. that way EVERYBODY there knows who brought it in, further insuring that no 'ripping off' will be done.

I think it also helped a lot that the guy who owns the garage, once owned an old type 85 quattro him self and apparently absolutely LOVED IT! when my m8 came to work in it.. hahaha..

So, still think i shouldn't use that garage?

you know i'm sure the silly things actually help to aid stones getting wedged between the disc and the splash guard it self, lol

least that seems to be the case on my brothers Vitara from time to time after driving up our hill.
