cable on my old b3 coupe went a bit slack once and couldnt open it, bent a length of 1/4" bar about 2" from the end at 90degrees, cut a slot in it, and poked it through the grill, locate the cable through one of the holes in the metal work near the catch 'and gave it a good tug' (no reference to missfires latest keira knightely post!) and the bonnet will open! I have the said tool (not missfire) sat in the top of my tool box unused for the last 8 years gathering dust so if your really struggling its yours! other advice is to get an a2, you dont have to open the bonnet on them till they have there own section on classic audi!

GOT IT !!!!!!
Managed to see the broken cable from lever end today. It was in the outer sheath so had to cut 1/4 inch of outer off to grip and got it open. ![]() Thing is.......... I have read that a Tandem bike cable will work, but its 1.5mm dia and the original i have removed today is 1mm dia................ CONFUSED ![]() Wondering now if i should go for original replacement from Stealers ???? |

Ok...... JOB DONE.
Its been modified and Speckyfied !!!! The joys of workin at a decent engineering place Have also fitted 2 Stainless 0.6 Dia wires to each release and fed them neatly into the fron of radiator and grill area so if i have same problem again i can use these to release. ![]() New cable from stealers was gonna be £24...... NOT AN OPTION ![]() SPECKS |
