can you still grab the cable with vice-grips...??? no....if it snapped under the bonnet i suppose...

my pal had a mk 1 escort with no accelerator pedal....just a pair of vice-grips on the end of the wire..... used to drive it like that too...

Happened to me once.
Mine snapped by the lever.I had to get under front of car, reach up behind grill(by radiator),grab hold of cable and give it a yank. That pops the bonnet up alittle abit. Then I had to reach up the back of the grill again,up to where the (right)bonnet catch goes in the cross member. There,s aloop where the cable should go,push it and the bonnet pops up.Then reach under front lip of bonnet and open as usual.
Worked for me,on q90.
