An s2 is 5 cyl 20v and 4 x4 drive..... I suspect you have a front wheel drive coupe with s2 badges (In fact I am sure you do) The 4 cyl 2 ltr engine gives the game away sorry

John,

Your car is an Audi Coupe with a 2-litre engine. It looks very similar externally to the S2, but it is not one. Except for the badges, front bumper and 4-bolt hubs, it looks almost identical to an S2. However, if you look under the rear of the car you will see a beam rear axle, not the differential, driveshafts and propshaft that you would see if it were a quattro model. Inside, S2s usually had white dials and all had a diff lock button down by the handbrake. The S2 engine has '20v turbo' on the rocker cover.

The Coupes of this era were extremely well-made and made of galvanised steel, and are capable of high mileages if maintained well.

Have you got the service schedule, it has a sticker in there which states the particulars of the car, including the engine code. This is also stamped onto a flat on the passenger side of the engine block. There is a similar sticker inside the boot. If you give the VIN to an Audi dealer they should be able to tell you the specification of the car.

I hope this helps.

Hi, many thanks for your very full and informative reply, it is very much appreciated, I guess I now know what I have bought but I still want to buy an alloy wheel for it. It is in very good condition so that must be down to the Zinc covering, best regards and again many thanks, John.

Not sure which style you need but there are some compatible options on ebay. First a single wheel:

and a couple of complete sets:
