Oh, it's saved - but I lost my pictures of it about eighteen months ago.
When I last saw it (the older one) it had been completely stripped, very professionally repaired (the body wasn't too bad) and repainted white. It looked very good. The guy doing it had every possible tool and 45 years' experience as a mechanic - a very methodical and thorough worker. I have no doubt that he's finished the job and the car is possibly stored or driving around Speyside. |

For my fellow whisky/whiskey fans.
My most recent tasting came about as a result of a friend coming back from a vacation in Ireland. He is a whisky drinker, and inquired while there, what the average Irish fan of whiskey drinks when they want to sip a nice dram. He brought a bottle home in his luggage. The answer was LOCKE'S 8 yr. Old Single, a pure pot still variety. Around 30-32 BP a bottle. This whiskey is fantastic for the price! Nice color, a soft amber. Nose is soft, a little fruity, and opens up subtly if you rinse the glass first in still water. The taste is smooth, immediately malty with a barley ( and I want to say pit fruit like apricot) front with an a soft oaky finish, just a little dry, with a hint of vanilla sugar. I enjoyed this whisky best neat. UNFORTUNATELY like so many good things, it is not generally available in the States. ![]() Highly recommended. Given a choice between this, and the Redbreast 12 yr. ( which I can get, and like a lot) I would choose Locke's. ![]()

I'll raise glass to that Matt. Have a bottle of Lockes in my cabinet!
Should be able to report back with something a little special on Monday. Turns out a very good friend of mine who I store cars/bikes for is quite the Whisky connoisseur! |

In many respects the Locke's 8yr is like a good Speyside

With winter looming it's time to hit the bottle again! Not in a drunken way!
Was speaking to a friend of mine to there day and it turned out he's a bit of a collector of single malts and has got me a bottle of 14 y/o Mortlach. The difference with this one is, it is bottled only for Tanners, a locally independent and very reputable Wine shop in Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth (Shropshire UK), and it has been finished off in tanners own cask so this Malt is only available via 2 outlets in the UK in small numbers and quite quickly becomes collectable. Whilst in Shrewsbury yesterday afternoon, I nipped in to Tanners and treated myself to an extra bottle for a rainy day and also got a bottle of 18 y/o Clynelish, again, another single malt only bottled for Tanners and again in their own cask. I also treated myself to this for the 'collection', a very nice 30 y/old Glen Moray. http://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/pro...=0010000024234 |

The Glen Moray seems very serious.
The review.......wow. Super complex. Very interested in a personal review of this heavy hitter Coxy. The write make it sound like 2 whiskys in one.

That said, the 14 y/o Mortlach is exquisite and has gone down a treat in front of an open fire tonight. Such a shame that this Whisky won't be readily available to the masses, as it really is one to have especially given the price tag which is just over £25. |

Classic cars and Whisky
Here's a bottle that's staying unopened, it's a blend and probably average. Might be desirable one day.......when the oil runs out ![]() John. ![]() |
