...Spent a while today removing the bonnet catch "springs" from the front apron, then went onto removing the bonnet release cable. On the very end of the cable is a cone shaped end piece with a tapping screw to hold the cable from sliding back through the O/S spring. On removal the screw sheared off...and the cone shaped bit which has the wire running through it has the wire "welded" in to it with rust so a new part is required ....any ideas or links please? ( Audi 80 Sport, B2 )

Many thanks, I'd seen this item in the distant past, but couldn't remember exactly where. You are red hot on the "knowledge" Much appreciated .

Thanks Shaun and Mark, but have now splashed out over £20 for that part from classicquattro. Wouldn't mind so much if I had a UR quattro but.... for a humble 80 Sport it's a lot of dosh. Bloody thing has so much rust everywhere it's costing a fortune in penetrating oil !! The smaller stuff just sheers/breaks.

Frank keep going my friend. Walk away for a week if you have to. Look on it as a holiday exercise not a job. No one's timing you here, we all know what bastards these fecking things are. A mistress would be easier to handle....... ( open discussion)

Tried that, got the "T" shirt a couple of times which is why I am now such a poor pensioner! Words like "some people never learn" spring to mind.....
![]() One advantage of old age is that the temptation tempered by realisation makes that option a non starter!! Thanks for the kind advice Steev !! |
