Default Delivery mileage 20v urq

A mate of mine just posted this on my facebook profile, thought I'd share it with you all:

https://www.facebook.com/RichterSpor...88686454537368

For those of you who can't access the page it's a dark grey 20v ur quattro that's never been registered, has delivery only mileage and hasn't been started in 20+ years!

What's the thinking that's £40k if not more?

Note too that 4 star classics have registered an interest in which case make that £80k and some fancy pics!

Was just reading his post on Facebook. Thats the sort of thing that gives you goose bumps... how do you put a price on it? I would suggest £40k is conservative...

Agree it probably is conservative, a mint 20v with 40-50k will go for that ballpark figure, so one with 20-30 miles total is going to be eyewateringly expensive, and of course bought only by a car collector who won't dare put any more miles on it!

unregistered and unused......
Given that a good unmolested one can fetch £30k, something like this at auction could easily fetch £70-£100k on the right day. People will pay a premium for a low mile example, and then more again for something like this.

I think Coxy's estimate (£70-£100k) is highly possible, however, is there anyone here actually prepared to pay that much for a car and not use it??

Is there not some legal position about registering after a given period? Beyond 7 years and it would go on a 'Q' plate? Not sure, but in some ways it would be a sin to rack up miles on it. It's a museum piece for sure.

whoever buys it, wouldn't really be able to register it as that would surely devalue it anyway.
The fact that it's never been registered is where the premium will come in, so it's just going to be a lump of metal which can never really get used.

I suppose you're right. It would devalue it.

I have mixed feelings about this, one half says it's a sin to watch it go undriven and the other half says STOP, don't drive it, you'll lose a fortune!!

At some point, probably within my lifetime, it will no longer be possible to drive cars like these on the road... so my vote would be to drive it..

A 50,000 mile car can look just as good in a museum as a 50 mile car..
