It is a new pump, which i installed after i sort of renovated the old fuel tank, so dirt etc. is not the case. And everything works great, (i mean i can even drive normally) when i just put a + wire straight from the pump to the battery.

Is the relay ok
Or is there a break in the wire
When you say connecting it to the battery is it a new cable from pump to battery

Yes, the problem is either the relay or the wire itself as it works with a new wire that goes straight from the pump onto the battery. Which one/which number is the relay for the fuel pump supposed to be?
But first things first, as i now have to dry up the lake inside the car, thanks to this weeks rainy weather. A new problem for me, as it is the first time water has leaked inside the car. Oh the fun with old cars!

You can remove the relay and use a wire to jump the relay connections
Can't mind which ones
Water in the car is usually from under the battery
Hope this helps

Its a 1982 original manual in met blue ,im the third owner and it has 61.000 on the clock.it a German spec one so no quarter lights sunroof or electric seats unfortunately .mechanic is working on it as we speak as the turbo is free but will not boost, between him swearing he muttered something about a early egr valve being the problem.
