I've met Neil and Mal a number of times at BVF, Breakfast Club meets and at Curborough.

Normally found talking cars and drinking beers! And it doesn't matter what time of day it is!
Mal always looks like he's just got out of bed!! His car is awesome! One of the best Mk2 Golfs I know and fast as fook! Think he got the fastest time of the day at Curborough in it.
Didn't he do well at Inters with it as well?

Bit different to what you have over there.

Most cars over 10 years old tend to get weighed in for scrap and as the price of scrap metal in the UK was at an all time high about 6 months ago, most scrap dealers got rid of older cars.
They make their money on cars between 5 and 10 years old nowadays. May seem a bit odd to you where you keep a car on the road for twice as long, but different country, different economics, different way of thinking!
In junkyards in Liepāja can be found parts for cars 10-20 years old, newer ones, just like B5 passat or A4 mostly are RHD from uk or ireland. In our capital is a little bit better, if needed parts for something newer. Cars in streets - anything from brand new to twenty years old, excluding, of course, japaneese, french etc - they can't last more than 15 years I also don't like the way how prices of cars are dropping - before crisis because of credits, now because of crisis - this will kill big part of remaining A200 20vtq etc
Reasons for old cars in streets are obvious - not only economical situation, but also their reliability, parts aviability and price [both car's and parts], and also labour - let's say, I don't wan't anything other than B3/B4 - I can't see reason for B5, that have crappy electronics and crappy suspension, that costs some 3-5x more than B3/B4's, but don't last longer.
P.S. Suspension of A80 is relatively weak, when compared to vw's, opels etc of the time. But this is now forgotten - reason - suspensions of newer models, that aren't better, but cost much more
P.P.S. How about steel prices? At the moment prices are up to 60 lvl/ton [some 45-50 pounds], before some 6 months was nice price drop.
