IMHO you should be looking towards the Injectors, I just saw you mentioned old fuel in a previous thread, totally different system I know but this wreaked havoc inside my fuel distributor
If an injector was partially clogged, it would not show a fault code unless the injector was electrically faulty and would cause a lean mix and detonation, the ecu tries to counteract this by reducing advance and boost, if it can't it goes into limp mode.
would expect to see a knock control fault logged though
suppose they could be tested on the rail, but I didn't recomend that
Professional cleaning and testing is safer.

The codes were cleared with the engine running, went for a drive until limp mode came in and kept it running whilst VAGCOM plugged back in with no codes showing. Then read the live data page where everything was text book. The old fuel was only 5 months old when I started up the car again and have kind of eliminated this as all the spark plugs on removal are all the same colour. Plus the amount of fuel getting pushed in with the re-chipped ECU and V-power fuel should of cleaned the nozzles by now. In the process of re-instating the breather system to see if this has an effect. N80 valve re-connected. Let you know what happens....
