Default 1986 100 Throttle cable LHD/RHD?

The only thing keeping my 1986 100 avant off the road is a lack of a throttle cable!

Ive tried everywhere but nobody has a cable for a 4 cylinder carb model. The closest I can get is from the Audi main dealer who can supply a LHD cable from Germany, in theory it should be slightly longer than the RHD version and so would be usable but can anybody tell me for sure?

The 80 is totally different, not tried a 90.

Unless anyone can tell you for sure, it could be a case of trial and error (hopefully not too many errors).
If it was me, I'd probably go to a breakers yard (the good old fashioned type where you can roam round and find stuff for yourself) and have a look at a few VWs and Audis, or anything else, to see what else looks compatible.

If all else fails, have you got the old one ? If so, it might be possible to have the ends fitted to another cable. OR - see if you can find an AA or RAC man, and ask nicely if they have any temporary end fittings. I called the AA out once because my sister's LHD porsche 924 had a broken clutch cable. Matey turned up on a motorbike and virtually made up a new temporary cable for me at the side of the road. It got the car home, and then to my mate's workshop, where I modified a new one so it couldn't snap again (it had plastic ends which were the weak point, particularly on sthis car which had a very stiff clutch mechanism). I fabricated some metal ends so they couldn't snap like the plastic ones would have done.
