Default running problems

rite this is what happened....basically i ran out of fuel last week...when it ran out the car made a pop sound. managed to get her to the petrol station n filled her bak up with superplus...started her bak up and since it doesnt idle properly..idles like a big v8 car, everytime i try pull off it just dies on me, kicks out loads of black smoke out the zorst too. my guess what that blockage in the fuel lines or filter so basicall i changed the filter along with new copper rings and added the strongest injector cleaner i could get hld of. ran it for 5mins but it jst dies still and kick out even more black smoke then b4...i dont know what else to do now..any suggestions??? also many people have asked me time and tiem again if i put diesel in n now im starting to think that i did but before i was pretty sure it wasnt...please any help wud be much obliged. amar

I'd get yer back seats up,and access your tank,I think thats how u get to yours.Remove the float sender and have a good old sniff!

Gotta be quickest way, unless you undo an injector and see what its bilging out

Hope its not fooked matey!

Change the sparkplugs first for GENUINE PLATINUM ones and then see how you get on, if you would have put diesel in the car would not run

Amar, check under the hood and see if the sudden change in fuel concentration caused the rubber boot between the throttle body and the air flow sensor popped off. Causes a huge vacuum leak which can sort of reseal out of suction letting the car "run" till under load. All it needs is the band clamp refitted and tightened down. A freebee, if that's the problem m8. Sounds like a backfire when it goes.

If it's AAN then check it with VAG-COM, maybe that "pop sound" was backfire that destroyed MAF.
I don't think it would start with diesel, one guy some time ago tried that with he's vw G60 engine - there was thread in that vw forum - for two pages he tried to figure out why he's G60 suddenly died, then he realized he put diesel in thank, after that there was loughing for 10 pages
