Default Rattley top end.Valve clearancey sound.

Well...the Coupe 16v has a tappety sound from the camcover for sure.

What is the set up under there? Shims and Hydraulic tappets??

Are shims easy and cheap enough to get hold of??

Hydraulic. Use at least 20W oil and a Mahle OC85 filter (with anti-drainback valve).

I think the OC85 has been deleted by Mahle, I've been using the OC47 equivalent supplied via Pete at quattro Corner for some months now.

Heh. So it seems, around a year ago:

But I'm still getting OC 85s. Someone somewhere must have had a hell of a stock.

My next door neighbor drains the engine oil and fill the sump with derv and runs it for 10 mins on tick over then drains it. Said this works on tappy hydraulic tappets, never tried it my self don't no what it would do to the seals.

Hydraulic,don't use shims.
I have,the same problem.I'm going to try,a flush first.
If that doesn't work,I'll change the tappets.(After,checks.)
