Default Idle Speed Actuator

Hi, my local garage has informed me that i need a idle speed actuator (035133455f) for my CQ. A new one is quite pricey (wallet feeling light after christmas ), so i wondered if any of you guys had a spare i could buy from you?
Thanks in advance, Al.

Thanks for replying Quattro , but i dont think so mate. The guy that looked at the car for me said he thought my problem was the actuator and then went on to say there was a small chance it could be the warm up regulator. So i guess they are two different things? I hate knowing so little about cars!!
I'd better go down the route of a actuator first, if that doesnt work then i hope you wont mind me getting back to you about the part you mentioned.

Maybe give us engine code or at least year and engine size? Although, when searching that code and looking on pics, that thing looks like old k-jet [like KV] ISV to me

More commonly known as Idle Stabilising Valve. Frequently found on 1980s 5 cyl Audi's.
Typically above the rocker cover at the rear with lots of vacuum pipes going to it.
Never had trouble with mine, but have read of people cleaning them with carb cleaner...
The warm-up regulator is something rather different.

Whats the reason - is the car significantly hunting up and down in revs when idling?

No the opposite if anything. When cold, the car wont idle at all! As soon as you lift off the accelerator the car stalls, even when driving! Takes 6 or 7 minutes of driving before it warms up enough that it wont stall. It makes driving very awkward, will appreciate any help on this subject.

Reading back through these posts ( Thanks for replying btw) i'm concerned i'm asking for the wrong part, and this may not even be the cause of the problem anyway!! I'm getting confused, please keep your ideas and help coming. I really need to get to the bottom of the problem soon, as the car is my daily driver.

Hmmm - I always thought the ISV controlled the idle only? - happy to be proved wrong here though by the experts

I would think that it not idling from cold is more like the cold starting part of the fuel injection system, like the thermo-time switch, warm up regulator or the cold start injector.

I have info below to check the warm up regulator - when the car is cold

disconnect the wires to the warm up regulator
Connect volt meter across the terminals of the look you have just disconnected and start the car, you should see a minimum of 11.5 volts at the connector
Switch off ignition and connect an ohmmeter across warm up valve terminals, if it does not show a resistance of 20ohms - its knackered

Other info on these checks can be found in the Haynes manual for the Coupe pages 94-95 - not great but its a start...
Bentley Manual deals with the emission's controlled K-jet which is no help as it uses and ECU!

Martc don't forget your ohmmeter will not show stuck ISV
To me this sounds like ISV or it's control unit failure.
