Default Thudding on wheel?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question really about something I've noticed on my '85 Audi 80.

I was pulling into the drive earlier on, and was using full right lock. As I pulled forward I heard a thudding noise (I also felt it on the steering - I think!) that sounded to be coming from the wheels, and the car jolted(?) ever so slightly to one side.

So I proceeded into the drive and assumed it was ice/snow on the road, having looked at the road/drive I saw there wasnt anything to cause it.

Now I noticed the same thing around a year ago whilst pulling out of a friends drive, and again assumed it was something on the road and thought nothing of it.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing it?

Whatever it is I would like to get it sorted ASAP, dont like that sort of thing!

Many thanks in advance,

My 80CL just had its lower ball joint (off side) replaced for the MoT, which causes it to "thud" on full lock.

It seems to do it going forward and backward, left lock and right, but only feels to be on the right-hand wheel.

It feels for all the world as if you are just running over a stone.

Ball Joints, if I remember rightly there about £8 each, i'd be happy with that! Cheers pimp.

Oh I forgot to say aswell, it only appears to do it when its a cold day or the car is cold, seems less apparent when its warm.

I had this problem, after further inspection I realsised that after replacing the lower ball joints I hadnt torqued the camber adjusting bolts with the weight of the car on them.
