Default Wheel paint

Can anyone recommend a paint, good for steel wheels or alloys, that can be brushed on?

done a couple of sets of old VW steel wheels using hammerite smooth. Not as good a finish as spraying but not too shabby at all.

Thanks Coxy.

Do you think Hammerite smooth is a good choice for cam/rocker covers over time?

I painted my wheels with enamel paint......in spray cans from Wilkinsons. Couple of coats of there enamel primer ( grey ) then keep building the layers up with the enamel paint. I used white obviously for my wheels and also used a hair dryer to get it to 'set' quickly. Then added a clear lacquer on top. They still look good two years on. Not keen on the Plasticote enamel paint though , a bit runny for me I'm afraid.

good call, and buy now before winter time as you tend to find that they run short of stock over winter as people starting buying to do resto's. Had to wait 6 weeks at the beginning of the year for the rust stuff.

Halfords also do paint in various shades of silver specially for wheels. They claim it to be hardy and chip resistant. Simoniz do to i think.
Worth the extra faffing about to spray as the finish is so much better
