fuel and temp guage

got a couple of little problems
1 . the temp guage doesn't work at all.
2 . the fuel guage is a bit dodgy sometimes it'll be fine then you would go round a corner then it'll go into the red then come back up but it doesn't go right down empty.

just wondering where to start
94 audi 80 2.0 8v (B4 i think, my first Audi)

thanks Trev.

Hi Matey, I had a problem for years on my S2 with the temperature gauge, I tried a second hand sender, the wiring, connectors on the loom etc, but in the end it was just the sender unit and from what I've been told, 99% of the time, its the sender unit that fails (probably why when I tried 3 second hand units, they all proved to be faulty) So how I got around the problem was to fit an earlier style single connector water temperature sender unit, it cost me a quid from the local scrap yard (it was from a golf) and cured the problem straight away and I've never had a single problem with the gauge since. hope this is of some use to you, Daz
