Rear light cluster gasket/mastic??
 

Just removed the rear light clusters on my '83 80 saloon and the rubber gasket stuff (like blu-tac sort of) is in a bit of a mess. Anyone know what this stuff is and where to get it??

Butyl Tape is the name of this stuff iirc. :)

I've not been able to find the proper stuff - usually comes 'wrapped' in a sort grease-proof brown paper, so I've used 'Dum Dum' paste in a yellow tin. About £10 for 1kg from someone like 'Frost' - they do smaller tins too. They you say you have to use it within a year once opened. but mine is fine after 18mths & you could do a dozen lights with it, so it's cheaper. It isn't quite the same, but it works just as well IMHO. Cheers. G
