1.8T into 86 b2 80 Sport

I know this has been covered before and looked at a couple of coupe projects on here but thought it would useful to have in one place. I already have an AEB 1.8T from a passat with wiring loom and ecu and have a guy to do the wiring so thats covered but what else will i need? Plus wil my own gearbox run with the 1.8T and if so what clutch should I use (considering a tight budget)

Many thanks in advance :)

If your engine is a 4cyl before you start. The 1.8t will bolt to your gearbox using the DZ flywheel and clutch.
You will need to fabricate your own engine mounts and buy a custom intercooler to fit.

The sport front end does not lend itself to fitting a rad and a decent intercooler at the front so may be worth investigating the options of mounting the radiator offset like a 5 Cyl.

Downpipe to join exhaust to turbo. Engine mounts. Not sure if the existing gearbox has small shaft or large, if large the aeb clutch will fit. Then just pipes for rad etc

The DZ clutch wont put up much of a fight , a friend
did his over the winter and he used a b4 80 tdi flywheel
and a mix match of vr6 and tdi clutch plate and pressure
to take the power from the 1.8t , he used a transit intercooler
after cutting away some of the front lower panel aswell

Kinda thought that myself but just want to get all running first and then look about upgrading clutch, brakes and suspension etc

As for intercooler i dont know what to use yet, have to do some investigating

You forgot to mention that he didn't use B2 gearbox and starter.

BTW 228mm tdi pressure plate is direct fit to b2 flywheel.

What did he use?

Don't know and that doesn't matter if you are using B2 gearbox.

I was going to get a 034 motorsports performance paddle doo daa clutch from the states, but they cannot confirm if it will fit the gearbox and don't want to take the risk.

In the meanwhile I have contacted a company who i found online called CG motorsports who will build me a custom clutch kit for the conversion for fraction of the price!

So up yours you stuffy americans, go blow something up or start a war somewhere.
