Central Locking Pump
 

Hello Everyone, Just wanted to know if anyone has a central Locking Pump part no: 4AO862257A.

Ebay don't have any with that part number, google give me german websites? I took the pump to a electrician he said the pump has totally burn't out and so has the circuit board as well.

Please can anyone help??:wall:

I'm sure someone with access to ETKA will advise you better, but I found on my ur that there were several pumps with differing part numbers that worked fine.

Its for a 1992 Audi Coupe 2.8 Quattro

Audi have just said they they are £298 + VAT

You can get five-wire actuators from Maplins for a tenner a door. Chuck the pump away.

The electrical actuators are an option, but only if you understand what you wish to do; how to wire them in correctly, and have decent tools to do the job reliably. There is no point in swapping one problem for another.

the first part of your pump part number is 4A0862257A, which sort of links t to the chassis.
I wonder if there is any commonality between al the pumps fitted to the audis of a certain era.
(anybody...?)

My V8 has 443862257H according to VAGCAT.
I broke a V8 last year, and have a pump in my spares. But not immediately to hand.

What is worth investigating prior to fitting a new pump, is the cause of the total failure of the old.
Is it old age, or problems in the hoses and other bits resulting in the pump failure? It would not be good to fit a new one if the same were to happen.

According to ETKA your part number is 4A0862257J, (not A) and this part number is common across B3's and B4's from 1989-1996 (Coupes, Sedans and Avants including RS2) and C4's from 1992-1997, the A8 from 1994-1999 and the V8 from 1989-1994.

Check your part number again.

I believe you wrote 4AO instead of 4A0. Makes a big difference :nod:

brother had a 1997 a4 with same problem i ordered a repair kit on e-bay and took me 30 mins stripping it and replacing the parts, not compicated to do and done the job and a lot cheaper

In very many cases it's not the pump at all. The actuators are in the doors and the vacuum hoses thus run through the boots in the door jamb. Since they're flexed a lot, they tend to crack.

So the first thing to do is disconnect the hose from the pump and check the vacuum integrity with a MityVac or similar.

I recommend it for ur-quattro owners especially because the stock system doesn't lock the car from the passenger door, only from the driver's door.
