Default Engine oil after changing

I had my engine oil changed last Friday or I think it was anyway, I have only driven about 30 miles, today I checked the oil and to me it looks the same as when I took it, shouldn't the oil be quite clear after oil change? Now it's almost black, I'm sure I'm being ripped off.

Did you have the filter changed too? If so does that look new?

any garage doing an oil change you'd think should be doing the filter as a matter of course.

I'd be having words.

It should look a lot cleaner, golden brown rather than black. If I booked my car in and they didn't actually do what I'd asked them to do they'd be for it!

Last time some one ignored my instructions about repairing my exhaust and they didn't cooperate I threatened them with trading standards! (Extreme, but was my last resort!) Got a full refund!

Is it an independent garage or a dealer?

Angry

It's a dealer they do trucks as well, I went there because they have a Mobil Express oil changing place that's what I can't understand it must be so easy to change oil etc they have got all the equipment there the mechanic was ok and friendly as you may know from an earlier post I live in Finland at the moment so maybe they are taking the P'ss out of me, I mean what can the mechanic make out of me buy not changing the oil I paid with credit card so it goes into the company bank account not his pocket and anyway the oil charge is not alot. I went there also because the car failed the yearly test something about the rear breaks to strong on one side they phoned me and said it needs new rear breaks but I don't know what he actually did as on the bill it just says, break cylinder, front break hose, break fluid, charge for re-test, 6.5 hrs labor. Nothing about oil change or filter but he said to me he put a new filter. Also he fixed a water leak I think the hose from thermostat housing, total about £400, I feel sick it seems so stupid not to change the oil it's important as it has not been changed for a while I think.

I was trained to change the Oil and Filter as a matter of course indeed. No question of not changing the filter.

I'd not even waste the fuel going back.

How would you feel about doing this job yourself mate?

Im more than happy to explain how to do this.Im sure plenty of other members here would as well...

As someone on the S2 Forum once said, working on your own car is a really good way to bond with it.
You get that feeling after that you have achieved something and when you drive it,you know that it feels good because of what you did yourself.

Also,it saves you the labour in a lot of cases. You could spend that on better oil for instance,or simply save the cash.

Over the years,I do more things(myself)to the car.I,ve had so many cock ups,bad workmanship.Might take me alot longer, but I know it,s done properly.
Don,t know about you?All I need is a manual and I,ll have ago at most jobs(In my comfort zone.)Saves alot of bucks.
Oil change,is abit messy but quite easy.(I understand you had alot more done, aswell.)
Too late now.But in the future you could mark the old suspect part in someway or take a photo, before the job. Then check it,after job.
I HATE BEING RIPPED OFF.
