Default Service Parts?

Just coming up to 160k so a service is due, just wanna ask your thoughts on some parts to use;

I usually just get a batch from GSF, usuall MANN parts etc. but just wondering if I should go the hog and get dealer parts... Is there any noticable difference from using dealer plugs than the standard Bosche ones? Ignition leads, again any difference between GSF and dealer? I'm gonna get the oil filter from Audi, but the inline fuel filter, again any reason why I should get a dealer part?

Cap and rotor arm are usually Mann also, need to be dealer?

Lastly, where does everyone stand on K&N airfilters? I know it's supposed to increase airflow etc. and I'm coming around to the thought of getting one as they should last 50k before being reoiled... It would just be a standard round one for the pan, no special air intakes or anything!

Any comments welcome!

K&N air filters are very good just put a panel filter in the A4 as it works out cheaper in the long run
all my cars run sports air filters

the only 'OEM' parts that i have used recently were high tension leads..because they were copper core..not silicone core..

don’t know if it makes much difference.. but i think they last longer.

also i have noticed that some after market Chinese dizzy caps don’t have as snug a fit as i would like..some rotational movement..

i don't usually use oil treatment but i will in the 4000 as i think the compression is down on one cylinder just to try it

K&N are a good upgrade. The only times they get bad press is usually when people using them in engines with an MAF sensor, over oil the filter during a service. Never had an issue with any of the ones I have fitted in the last 25years.
I need new plug leads in the Cq soon and probably stick with OEM as not heard many good things about the likes of Magnecor and similar silicone leads.

Thanks for the advice chaps!

Ordered a K&N filter for £35, and been to the dealer for the oil filter. As for the rest I'm sticking to GSF, Audi can no longer get me spark plugs, leads are £20 each and the cap and arm are over 5 times the GSF price!

Anyone know where I can get some Bosch W7DTC long life plugs (3 electrodes)?

Also, on the GSF site, after a product name, what does the (BQ) stand for?

Thanks again,

John are they the Super 4's - WR78's? - Wrong code there by Bosch really should have called them MB78's

Useful website here to find out what the latest plugs are....

http://marketplaceadvisor.channeladv...uper4_audi.htm

Also Bosch e-cat is a good source for revised part numbers
