Default coupe's full of the horn

hey folks

some of you might remember me asking question's about how to replace a standard air bag steering wheel with a non air bag 3 spoke sports wheel.

well it's been done for a while now without any major problems, apart fom the loss of the horn and self cancel for the indicators.

however, yesterday while at a bit of a loose end, quattrokid and myself had a rummage round a local scrap yard we found an 80 sport ( i think ) it had rear spoiler, auxilliary guages and a 3 spoke sports wheel, non airbag.

so we took that off and the switch controlls and the plastic housing, 25 quid all in. got up this smorning and thought it would jst be a simple swap over but was not to be. but after numerous cups of coffee and a few cigs it's done.

new steering wheel fitted with the original air bag model switch unit, with non air bag model plastic housing and it looks like it jst came out the factory. all switches working as they should and a working horn. the only thing i've had to sacrafice is the self cancel for the indicator's but no big deal.

if any one is thinking about doing the swap, feel free to mail me for any advice. it is very simple and doesnt take long. and all you need to get the horn working is to cut a wire and fit it with a female spade connector and the jobs done

good times
