Default So who likes Elvis ?

Well I do !!

Just got back from seeing an Elvis tribute concert at Dewsbury Town Hall - very exotic I know. Saw three different Elvis acts, the British champion who played the younger Elvis , he was good, the European champion who played the 69 comeback special Elvis who was brilliant and the the world champion Elvis played by an American guy who has spent the last ten years touring the world doing this. He was fooking superb, what a singer, He was the complete deal, the looks, the voice, body movements, banter with the crowd, the whole deal.

after seeing this fook x factor

ooh I like a bit of Elvis...proper cheese on a stick in some ways yet such a class act nonetheless. Next time we want an invite to the tribute act

No way is he overrated, imagine a world as a teenager with no internet, coming out of the austerity of world war 2, no TV for the masses and all you have is a valve powered radio banging out Glen Miller, Bing Crosby and the Light Entertainment channel that you can only listen too when your parents allow or you sneak some time with

Next thing you know you have Elvis Presley and the Jordinairs bellowing down the airwaves into your lug holes and your world is transformed. You can rebel, you have something you can call your own that your parents don't understand. You have an idol that pushes the boundaries of the old order. Difficult to comprehend now maybe but just imagine for a moment........

Elvis is a as relevant now as an influence as he was 40 odd years ago

Well said Martyn, I remember The Clash singing "no Elvis, Beatles or Rolling Stones in 1977" on a song called 1977 and I loved Joe Strummer, but without Elvis I doubt there would have been The Clash.

This guy was amazing he's got loads of video's on U Tube he's called Doug Church if you want to see.

Next time you'll get an invite matey
