Default Audi 100 '73 Exhaust

Hi,

I've recently bought an Audi 100, 1973 GL Auto, and it's in desparate need of a new exhaust. I can source a new exhaust for an Audi 100 7.76-7.82 quite easily, but will it fit on an older car?

Also, is there a place where parts for older classic Audis can be bought readily, or is it generally difficult to source parts?

Thanks!
Oliver

No, it'll be a different one for '69-'76.

You could struggle to get an original/aftermarket one for yours. I have a 1975 100 and that had a stainless system made up for it. Better than the original and will last a whole lot longer.
Most good exhaust places will be able to make up a custom exhaust for you.

you could order one from one of the parts suppliers in Germany

although, with cost of postage, it would probably be cheaper to get one made up locally.

Thanks - that's a really useful site to know.

My other car is a Series Land Rover, and I think i've been a bit spoilt with parts availablity for that.

yup! What you can't get for a Landie is about the sum of what you can get for an early 100!

If you do need anything, then let me know. I have a few bits n bobs myself but I also know a man from Norwich who has a nice stash of spares for these cars.

Thanks - I may need some help sometime

I haven't done anything with it yet. So far as I can make out it's in good shape, other than the exhaust and some rust inside the wing somewhere. Nothing major. It's been in warm dry storage for the last 15 years. I'll pull some parts off soon know the extent of any problems.

Actually, I need a boot handle - the old one has gone. I don't suppose you know someone who has a spare? I have a chrome metal one that I bought on e-bay, but it's for the slightly later model and doesn't fit, so i'd be happy to exchange if anyone is interested.
