Depends on the quality really... IMHO the factory Audi interior of the B2 chassis cars (type 81 and type 85's - including quattros) was pretty average even when new. Audi had a canny knack of turning expensive leather into something that looked like vinyl. After 25 years they are mostly tired, saggy, cracked and look (dare I say this) cheap, especially against the expectations we get used to with leather interiors of recent years.

At £600, I'd put that money towards a retrim with new material.

Had? Is it different now? At least C5 have leather treated the same way. But I can't say anything very bad about it, despite it's slippery - my arse is big enough so it will remain in front seat but back seat is for losers anyway
