Question CQ 20 valve non turbo (series 3)

I'm toying with the idea of finding a 20 valve CQ (series 3) for a possible 20 Valve Turbo transplant..

Unless I'm mistaken, these cars never got the 20V Turbo motor?? And i like the 'look' more so than the later face lift models.

If I do decide to get one, I would prefer something i can legally drive home...

Don't want to pay a fortune for a totally mint example tho.. but something presentable, that just needs a real good clean maybe.. As I enjoy cleaning cars and there engine bays.

What do you guys think?

For the time and effort not to mention the cost involved you should go straight off and buy an S2. Unless you fancy something that doesn't look as fast as it is...

Or just buy a 20v Coupe quatt, sort it out to run bang on and she'll be quick enough.....ask Ben with his 90.

never seen a 20valve eng in the flesh, so the idea was to run it 'as is' for a while anyway.
tho, i'm sure they do go well when sorted..

I just thought the 20 valve 7A would make an easier swap to 20vt?

I do fancy something that doesn't look as fast as it is, I'm wondering now if its easy to fit an S2 with the lights and bonnet/grille from the earlier series 3 coupe??

Yeah, I can confirm a sorted 20v 7A is a crackin engine!!

If you go for a swap tho it makes little difference if 10 or 20v originally. If you do a swap tho factor in some engine work..... Dunno if you get Audi Driver but my bit this month is specifically about the S2 engine wrecking big end shells! It is well worth doing the shells, valve stem seals and timing belt ect before you put it in the car. This means it can be cheaper to buy the S2 if you get a cheap one!!! You can put the old (nicer!!!) front on an S2. It will fit but may look funny as it's actually an S2....???

Either way you'll have a good car. If you get a 20vq you may find it is more than good enough for now and u can get plenty of fun out of it before you get bored and want big S2 power!

cough... if i had the money... its also full leather.
I emailled the owner already

It has no tax or mot as the car was not being used as my partner had a company car. It was stored at the top of the drive and covered. It has no body rust, the front bumper has a small crack in it and thats it!! it has 11 stamps in the service book all completed at audi and the guy who e bought it off worked at audi and done all the work on it himself so it was well looked after.
