Default Indicators that don't!

Hi,Can anyone tell me where the flasher unit is on a 1986 Coupe Quattro? My indicators stopped flashing about a week ago but I can't find the flasher unit.Is it behind the dash as there is a ticking noise from there if you turn the hazards on and off. Thanks for your help in advance, Nick

Now I could be wrong, but on my ur its behind the dash.
unscrew the 4 screws which hold the frame onto the "pod" and then pull frame forward.
it may be easier to pull off one set of connectors from switches on one side of the frame so you can swing it out of the way.
pod should lift away then and flasher unit (silver cube about 25mm square) is attached to a lug at back of display.
i always take the steering wheel of as well to improve access.

now I'm prepared to say "I dont really have a clue", but while there may be a relay under the glove box, I'm pretty sure the thing i've had to take off when i was messing with the dash was the flasher unit- ie the thing that makes the clicking noise.
there again very worth while checking relays behind glove box out.

ps Amanda, do you see jay much? just that ian may have a parcel for me and hes seeing him soon.

Flasher unit is behind the dash (rev counter / speedo ) clipped to the back of the instrument cluster as stuartmmcfc said

Do your hazard flashers work ok? The hazard switch only recreationtes what the indicator stalk switch does but both sides at once. If the indicators all flash and the relay is clicking it's not the relay, it's the stalk.
