Default Ancient Datsun

See this several times over a couple of year period...

'N' plate Datsun 120Y driven by an old girl as her daily shopping basket/hack.

It's picked up a flat so I was able to scoot back for a quick piccie.

I think the last time I saw one of them, I was 19... clearly nobody's told this one it should have rusted away by now.

We had one in our family.Same colour but saloon.GPJ 289N if youre still out there,do something I dunno.......honky!!

This had the obligatory black vinyl and BMW-style shaped dash around the driver. It rotted out like some old Capri in yer front garden on bricks might! Plastic Padding ahoy, and we sold it 3 years later for the £1200 we paid for it in 1974.

These went quite well and were light, and of course RWD!

They out-reliabled the Brit cars of the time,I remember, and such good value.

Nice spot matey!

Shame you've not got a 260z or 240z they'll make good money now... On the run up to buying my GT (in 1990) I test drove several 240 and 260z's along with a few Audi Coupe GT's, because I was driving 35 miles each way to work I settled for the 2.2i KE engined GT, the 240/260z being a bit questionable for reliability.

In 2000 when I parted company (due to accident damage) with my GT it was proably worth, in open market, £600.00 and a similar condition 240z would have fetched £4-6k.

Here's a mint one now in the UK

If only I'd have kept a mint 240z.....

And that's just such a special front end....

my shortlist for 'secret cars stashed in the garage' Everyday heros... Kind of thing would go..

240z
2.8i brooklands
RS2000
Manta 400
Monza
SDi V8 Vitesse
85 MG Montego Turbo (if you've ever driven one, you'll know why... Boost has never been so dangerous!)
Renault 21 quadra Turbo.
TR7 V8 (Tony Pond style)
RS500 Cossie

It's endless really... Did any of you drive a 1981 BMW 320i (the early shape with the forward opening bonnet) on bald tyres... I've never laughed, or been so shit scared in all my life... Amazing car, superb sound from the straight 6 and the only time I've ever gone round a wet roundabout with full opposite lock on.

I could go on...Especially about the Montego Turbo... Oh yes... If the youth of today had cars like that, the population would be declining...
