Default Windscreen going white at the edges

Wondered if anyone has come up with a solution for this other than replacing the windscreen of course. This has happened on 3 of the 4 80's I've owned over the years and really spoils the apperance. I was thinking in terms of some black vinyl to mask over it.

Attached a couple of pic's of my current car.

Any ideas would be welcome

Thats is called "GLASS CANCER" it happens when the 2 sides of the glass detache from which other. Its danger because they can brake at any time, i have the same problem with the Accord. Replacement is the solution.

Also I read in the online version of the MOT testers manual, that they're allowed to fail a car with anything stuck on the screen which restricts the view out of it, other than tax discs etc. The other exception is the dark edging that's on some screens as standard.

Found it (doesn't seem to say delamination is a failure though)

Opaque edging
Opaque edging on a windscreen (usually
black, particularly at the lower edge) found on some modern vehicles is not to be regarded as part of the windscreen when assessing the drivers view through the windscreen within 8.3 Item 1 of the Inspection Manual.
Additional Opaque Films
Additional opaque films are subject to reason for rejection 1 whether fitted on the inside or outside of fhe windscreen.

Mines done the same thing.... I got fully comp with the AA and on their policy windscreen repairs is covered as a freebie without effecting no claims etc.

So I think I will be calling Autoglass or someone to come and replace my windscreen.

itd be interesting to see if the insurance company would replace it. Mines going like that too, again windscreen cover, but i thought it had to be cracked etc.

What makes a valid claim in other words..

To claim windscreen damage in theory it will have to have been as a result of damage from an external source, ie. a stone chip, crack or vandal damage.

Wouldn't it be great if you could put in an insurance claim for 'rust' damage on your car if you decided it was getting a bit ratty... Oh I have to pay a 100 pounds excess? No bother at all!

I recently replaced my cracked 80 screen with a secondhand one on the cheap, the new one is going a little opaque too, but its not too bad. The one on the 90 looks terrible & I'll renew it once the car is back on the road.

What if you suffered a "stone chip" in the middle of your screen?

It goes milky from where the car is rusting between the windscreen and frame edge, when you remove the windscreen you will find the milky areas are all rusted up and wet with gathered water.
