Default new body shell?

Hiya

my gt5 coupe s 1986 does seem to have to much surface rust on the bodywork and arches.

will it be a sensible idea to completly remove the bodyshell and replace it with one "spink" has.

picstures of my car are on my profile

may thanks

You have your work cut out with this one, big job to swap body, though this is what needs sorting first before any mechanical stuf rectified.
The body work is one (and virtually only) area I left to the experts.
Good luck.

Ahh, c'mon. You're talking like rust would be some kind of deadly sickness that can be removed only with heavy surgery Cut that, cut that, weld that and pay a lot of money - why? Remove all rust to clean metal with, let's say, drilling machine with wire brush, apply some putty, grind it with sandpaper and colour it, using correct paint. Even when coloured with spray can, it can be unnoticable, if correct tone and techniques are used. On other side use some kind of bitumen or other anti corrosion treatment. If in cleaning process there forms some little holes, let's say, in 1 mm2 in size, that's nothing, putty will cover it. If there is hole something like 1 cm2, it can be patched, only looks like that it would be problematic to find someone who can do that

hmm rust is a enemy...depends on how bad.....on ym a pillar and front left wing ..its abut 3inch holes in them:O....some of the smaller ones can be repaired with putty and the likes. need help from a garage in sorting the larger and worse damage to the bodywork though.

Rust always comes back, you can never clean it because it contaminates the whole area, and if you do a poor repair it will only last a couple of years
