Mk1 Golf GTIs have classic status cos they were the first of the breed.

Mk2 Golf GTI - why are people trying to sell them for £2000?

I was offered an E plate for nowt, but cos I'd have just tidied it up and sold it on, I refused it (ethical or what?) so my mate is buying it for £100 cos his mate needs a daily driver - I am glad someone is getting use out of it.

Audi 80 CS - or probably SC) - cooking model, nothing particularly special about it!

Personally, I think the bidding will stop when it gets to about a grand.

I mailed the chap last night just to confirm that it was the carbed engine and he mailed back within minutes. straight away I replied back about the inconsistencies with the mileages and he never replied back.

Now it could be just a typo, but at the end of the day he doesn't want to be stating things like it has the best history available when ferris bueller has been at the wheel!!!

that is down to me im afraid, mileage was entered in service book up until 31/07/01 at 26800 due to negligable or no mileage between services no mileage readings were entered again until july 05 at 27,077 then again at nov 06 with 9 miles extra 27086,i just filed in estimated mileages for those years and obviously cocked it up! all stamps are in he book, the servicing garage was hamsterley mill garage tel: 01207 545550 up till 05 then glencoe garage 01207 545198 reg no is b74 war please feel free to check with them, i can also give you phone number of previous family who owned it if reqd this is totally genuine car and i have nothing to hide, my number is 01969 622###if you wish to discuss it with me,we own a pub so you may get answer machine but if u leave your number i will call you straight back-kind regards nick

If it were a desirable car like an A plate Audi 80 quattro, wit the 2144CC engine (around from before the Coupe quattro I believe), or a low mileage Sport (the thinking man's Golf GTI) then it would be worth something.

I just can't believe people want to buy a "boring" model like this one...

Its not even got 5 cylinders, FFS.

The bidding stopped at £1225. Bit higher than what I envisaged but probably half of what his reserve is. Mind you, eBay is hardly the best place in the world to sell a motor car!
