you get that petition every 5 years or so, it's called the general election. Just don't expect the Tories to be any different or any better

Tories plan to raise the limit to 80mph.

ok by all means reduce speed to 20 around schools etc but it will come under that bloody banner "the environmental issue".This government reallly does rip my knitting

vote in the German green party..... atleast they agree that 155mph "is a sensible cruising speed"

of course they do!!, just like they promised to abolish inheritance tax and are now furiously back tracking cos of what it means to the taxmans coffers. I became a manager on the basis I don't want to lay people off but my goodness is that changing quickly.

Its already happened in Southend. On the Main A127 from Southend to Basildon we now have 50mph restriction for about 10 miles. Nice straight dual carridgeway ruined. The reason for this is the number of deaths on this road. Problem being 95% of the deaths are young drivers in Scooby's and Evo's, but nobody bothered to print that bit.

It's a shame they lower speed limits like that...

It's a form of natural selection being ruined...

Its happening in a lot of places but all there seem to do is put signs up which everone ignores anyway - unless its policed (and I don't mean camera vans or speed cameras) then nothing will change. Ever since the number of police officers on the roads has declined and speed cameras have become the way of life, the ever increase in foreign drivers on the roads (who don't know our rules), mobile phones and Sat Nav so you are watching a screen instead of a road and where you should be going and the driving standards have become awful to the point of you take your life into your own hands now on the road. Its driving standards just as much as speed.

Driving a car is a very serious thing, thats why you have to take a test and being in control of a vehicle is the important thing, it only takes a second of not paying attention by yourself or somelse and you could be dead or injured, like the poor family I had the misfortune of seeing the aftermath of an accident when their A8 was rear-ended into the path of an oncoming lorry. Looked more like an aircraft accident because someone was not concentrating, totally pointless.......

Oooo I think I just had a rant.....

AND....

Modern cars are like driving around in a Sensory Deprivation Chamber, what the world needs is cars that force you to concentrate, not watch telly (sat-nav), play with youself, text or phone because you’re bored, or steer with your knees just for something to do…

Spot on again Ian.

If most 'modern drivers' drove a real car they'd probably shit themselves.
Like the prat sat right up my chuff on a totally rain soaked road in his new numbmobile, totally oblivious to the actual grip levels that he didn't have!

I just went even slower (sluming it in the old dears Renault at the time).

There should be no speed limit on the motorway in off peak times its stupid to have a 70 mph limit, most cars are hardly tickin over at that speed
