Default Classic Audi revival

Bear with me, folks. It’s something of a learning curve akin to hitting a wall.

Progress is being made towards reviving the forum, because some of us older types understand it better than certain more modern stuff.

Your continued patience and forebearance will be much appreciated as we move forward.
At this stage, I’m making no specific promises, as this is a work in progress, and I’m learning on the fly with input from a few trusted sources.

The intent is to bring the forum up to latest revision state, but essentially the same as before. A small cadre of interested members has helped get us to this point, and there’s a WhatsApp group as a back channel for faster communication about outages.

Those same folks may also be spearheading an effort to bring members back to the fold. But I add a caveat. Set expectations slightly lower, for now, as there are a number of tasks to be completed before we can claim any reliability.

There is a thread running, regarding improvements and suggestions to the forum.

The aim is to preserve the knowledge base that came from all of those build threads, and how-to discussions. Host it in an updated platform that is still familiar, for now. To incorparate suggestions as is practical, or seen as necessary.

So, for now, that’s it. Just a very brief brief. But with your support, I’m sure we can get back to what we want our forum to be.

Hello, folks

Not much of an update, I’m afraid. World events have encroached somewhat on life here. Our fuel is up 42%.
Last weekend had me throttling back in the hope that fuel in the tank would last until I found a gas station! I did. Run by two lovely girls who politely smiled at my attempts at the local lingo.

Other things to deal with mean there has been little time to think forum. Runtime/Harrison has made an adjustment to the site settings which we maybe benefitting from. I don’t want to hex it, so I’ll say no more.

While I’ve had little time to deal with things directly, or learn on the job, I have been collecting my thoughts about next steps.

Please, keep the ideas coming, but also appreciate that during this transition period, we need to keep expectations realistic. But we’ll get there.
Things have also been quiet in the small WhatsApp focus group, but I do keep tabs, daily. Bear in mind that I’m seven hours ahead of the UK, even if we’re fifty years behind, so stuff that happens might be at inconvenient times.

Hi Hanuman, did you see my reply post about your google drive links, it is quite a simple fix, we all need to use google drive, at the moment it is 15Gb free with 100Gb for £12.99 for year one and £15.99 for year two, good deal if you ask me, I am no whiz with PC's, just good at Youtube searches to find "how to" videos. Again thank you for all your help getting the site up and running.

What a nice coincidence, i've just seen Duffy's silver Cortina with it's new owner on fb and thought to try to log in on the iPhone and there the forum was miraculously. Whoever is in charge of getting the forum back up well done, it's still the best resource for our Classic Audis.

The efforts to resurrect the forum are really appreciated. As a non-facebooker I thought it had moved over there lock stock and barrel, losing all the troubleshooting and knowledge stored here forever. Really glad to see it back, in whatever form it ends up taking.

Good to see you Derek and this place back up again. I’ve got a couple of pics of the car and whenever it pops up it generates a huge amount of comments more than any Mk5. One comment came from the chap who painted it for you. I commented and he replied back, nice chap who’s now retired as you know. Lets see if I can get these pics up.
