Evening Lads,
Does anyone know what gearbox code is on an 84' 80 quattro B2. Does anyone think the standard box would be able to handle 450-550 BHP. Some spirited launches perhaps now and again. Would the final drive ratio be ok or would it end up bouncing off the limiter at 130mph? If it's not up to the task, what updated box would you suggest. Would any particular 01E box suit? Ideally dont want anything too low/short ratios in first, second. B7 rs4? Thanks

Our B2 rally car has a CQ box in it, it’s handling circa 300 bhp and more importantly, the torque of the AAN. Ratio wise, it’s brilliant for sprinting, A/B road stuff. Motorways…. Nope… too high a ratio number. It’s just too busy at 70 mph for long periods. At the power output numbers you’re talking about, the box will probably cope (they’re pretty strong), but the ‘on road’ motorway gearing will grind you down.
Edit. Rev limiter, 130…. Absolutely yes. You can work the gears out from this… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIXAbF7FNsM

Is the B2 quattro box the same as the CQ?
Yes I have an AAN going in too, it's only going to be a weekend, fast road/track toy so not looking to do long distances for too long. Maybe to the odd show so dont need it to be a 6speed cruiser. As long as its geared for blasting down B roads and it can handle the power figures I'm hoping for, I'm happy. Will the box accept a quick shifter? https://www.speedingparts.co.uk/p/po...tom-mount.html

If it was me, I’d get it running on the B2 box and see if you can live with it first as it’s bit of a personal preference to be honest. Re quick shifter. No knowledge.
