Default Battery Fire

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned by mainstream news channels... Porsches & Audis going up in smoke.... Can't just hose them down, apparently..

Run it aground and fill it with water. Job done!

I hear that some fire brigades place EVs into a shipping container full of water for a week, after they have extinguished the initial fire, to ensure there is no chance of re-ignition.

The container has to be sent to a specialist waste operator to deal with all the dangerous elements residual in the water..

With DC voltages of 600+ you would not be advised to hose them down, there are plenty of clips of them on fire on YouTube. I suppose it's one of the many advantages! of an EV

I can see a case for the batteries to be shipped separately, and installed as part of a final inspection before handing over to a customer. If the risk of one EV fire is the loss of an entire cargo, plus the vessel.
There’s strict limits on what goes on cargo aircraft, already. The bloody things need a separate vessel all of their own.
