Looks like Pirelli are making P700-Z tyres again, or it’s someone’s cruel idea of an early April fools joke...

I note the deal is for five, bit of a waste unless some group together and buy a complete set. Still pricey though, vredestien do a correct size too at similar money. My current Dunlop’s have aged out not worn out.

I’m all for originality but that’s just ridiculous. I personally never rated the Pirelli P700 having ran a set back in the day and then joking about them every time someone binned a Ur at Castle Combe... Usually on P700’s.
Quite happy with my Toyo T1R’s and cheap enough to swap out every few years to stay on fresh rubber. With most Ur’s low mileage the P700 will never wear out, it’ll just go rock hard.

I've been happy with my T1R's too, but mine are about ready for replacement now.
I have a set of the repro 16x8 Ronals if/when 3SDM ever pull their finger out and issue special washers so they fit and I can use them, so I'm planning on swapping to them next and putting my 15x8 Ronals away. I was amused by a guy (I think from the tyre suppliers) on a quattro Facebook group schooling everyone that Audi did not just guess the tyre size and OEM tyre choice, but would have spent lots of effort and consulted with tyre manufacturers so that the OEM wheel tyre combo perfectly suited the chassis and suspension dynamics of the car. A 1970's design with single wishbone McPherson struts which came originally with 15x6" wheels and an optional 15x7" wheel, then changed to 15x8" with the skinniest tyre they could reasonably fit to an 8" wheel to try and clear the arches. That failed, so they had to roll the arches, then also threw in a 16x8" wheel option for good measure... 215's on the 8" wheel always looked under tyred IMO and creates the stretched look popular in the modding scene (which I never liked). My car used to do a lot more miles than it does now, so I went though various manufacturers 215 tyres before swapping to the 225 Toyos. The amount of wallow due to side wall flex and tramlining varied much more by manufacturer than by size. |

Have 225/50/15’s on mine. They were on the car and likely stick with that size. The tiny bit of extra kerb protection they give the white wheels it quite nice for me...
