Default Audi 80 2.2 "A" reg Oversized Pistons required

Good morning everyone as per the title I'm looking for oversized pistons, let me explain, I'm renovating/restoring/recomisioning delete as appropriate an A reg Audi 80 coupe with a 2.2 lt 5pot engine. I sent the engine in to be re shelled crank reground head skimmed ect whilst they've been checking it they noticed a lip on the middle piston bore so it needs a re bore as well now the only issue is there supplier can only supply 0.5 pistons, not 0.25 plus the price for the pistons comes in at "around £100 per piston!" I'm guesing that's without VAT
Does anyone have any new 0.25 oversized pistons just lying around waiting to go into a nice sorted car or can anyone suggest where else to look for some that might just make this engine rebuild affordable...

Is it only the middle bore that has a problem ?

Should be able to go oversize on the problem bore and leave the others standard in that situation. There's no requirement to overbore all 5

I get what your saying and thanks for the reply,
I just feel that maybe if ive got the engine stripped this far and ones gone the others wont be far behind and all I'm doing is delaying the inevitable for later and then il have to strip it all over again? I might be wrong as ive never done an engine like this before?

I can understand that thinking.

It's going to cost.

You say it's a 2.2 but it's a 1983. So a KK 2144cc engine.

Kolbenschmidt are no longer available in any size

Mahle don't list a 0.25 oversize. They do list 0.5 and 0.75 oversize so even if you go for the 0.5 oversize, there is still another oversize available in the future

The company I posted can modify pistons to customer specs and supply rings to fit the new size also. they offered to do it for either Phils wr or Mickys 200 5e when we needed a set of pistons but we went for the next oversize iirc to get around our size issues.

4v6 thanks for the idea ive emailed them and am hopefully going to get an answer soon,

Mikes2 I know Mahle do them there the ones that the engine company can get hold of; but the engine rebuild company were the ones who suggested I try elsewhere first, and see if I could source 0.25's from other piston supplier's.

Is there an issue with overboring to the next factory size? Then you could just use stock 81mm pistons with new rings?
