On the KV, Vacuum hose connected, 17 to 19 Deg BTDC @ 800RPM iirc.

It's good that there is so much manuals that ppls don't need even think about what they are doing
I learned how to adjust my 3A's ignition just by feel, of course, settings for electronic ignition is different but principle is the same.

Yeah i long ago got the knack of learning to set carbs up and ignition just by feel, mind you thats what happens when every day is a test day on your own car.
I would often pull over at the side of the road and add a little more initial timing or tweak the carb to make it idle nicer.
I got quite adept at stripping bosch distributors and tightening the advance springs a little or loosening them to alter advance characteristics, its quite useful stuff to be able to adjust those things and get rid of a pinking problem.
Coxy's Variant engine was a blast from the past in that respect- just looked too simple as tho itd not work almost, especially when compared to todays stuff.

I still prefer injection tho, theres so much you can change to get it right for each individual engine.
All good stuff.
