Default No oil pressure

My engine has been stood for 3 months while I did a few maintenance jobs including having the turbo overhauled and work on the water manifold on my 20Vt. With everything back on I decided it best to remove plugs and crank over without pressure on the components until the oil got round. Did this last year after the install of this engine without issue and expected to see the oil pressure light go out after 15 seconds as before but this time nothing, did a full 30 seconds and checked for oil in the cylinder head and other than remnants from the last time it was run, Nothing! Checked oil level and all connections. Tried again and still nothing. Never had this before. Could an oil pump fail just like that from not being used?! Or is it just a vapour lock, Anyone had this and if so any ideas pleeeease, could do without any expense at the moment, so a cheap fix much appreciated.....

Could be the oil pressure relief valve sticking open from when it was last run maybe?
I would fill the oil filter first as much as possible anyway by hand to help prime the system.

Ive often heard of oil pumps failing to prime; the solution ( during rebuild anyway) was to pack the pump with petroleum jelly to ensure it gets a really strong action and will lift the oil.

With Coxys variant i was very wary in case this was to happen although i knew the pump would pick the oil up strongly, i still primed the whole system with a bottle and pressurised it with a bike pump to force oil into the galleries.
Deffo worth checking the oil filter is full first tho.

I once left the oil to drain overnight on my coupe, when i refilled it the next day it would not build up oil pressure, tried lots of things but no go, so i arranged a tow home so i could take the sump off, went down a very steep hill on the way, don't know why biut started her while going down the hill the oil light went straight out never been a problem since ............

That is interesting as I was on the drive last year that has a 30deg incline when I carried out the no plugs procedure so all the oil would have been at the front of the sump. Might try this again and add extra oil too (will be replacing anyway before car comes back on the road.) Thanks.

Deffo sounds like failure to prime.

It was a common fault for the oil pickup in the sump to be blocked not sure why it happened , lack of oil changes maybe ? so this may be worth checking if the "hill / Angle" method does not work

Success, Pulled the old bucket onto the drive, changed the oil and filter, overfilling to allow for filter capacity and 10 seconds after turning the key oil pressure light went out. Thanks and now much relieved!
