Default engine oil

whats the best oil to use in my audi 80 1.9 carb 5 pot any ideas
15/50 or 20/50 or synthetic ?
any info apprichated

A mineral 15W-40 or 15W-50 should be spot-on Micky.

ok guy help is need seeming as 80s come and go does anyone know this car please on ebay item number 290288922276 any info please many thanks on this audi 80 sport

15-40 blue quantum from GSF or your friendly Audi dealer (sometimes cheaper than GSF, depending on how their sales figures are....)

Change every 5000 miles or 12 months, whichever is sooner.

I used to to put 10/40 in mine, but it didn't seemed too happy running it...used to tap slightly. Been spot on since I put 20/50 in though! That's what it recommends in the Haynes manual as well. Flush the engine with 'Wurth' engine flush every time I do a service, seems fine between intervals!
